Take a Tip

I am a sucker for an easier and cheaper way to do something.

My brother, who is my “interesting things in the world” confidant, sent me a list of Household Tips, that went even beyond some of the things I had already heard over the years. Here are a few to “hopefully” make your day at home a bit better!

1) Use a meat baster to squeeze your pancake batter onto the hot griddle or pan and you’ll get perfectly shaped pancakes every time.

2) To easily remove burnt food from your pots and pans, add a drop of dish soap to just enough water to cover the bottom of the pot, then bring to a boil on the stove top.

3) When a cake pan calls for flowering a pan, use some of the dried cake batter instead. This way you won’t end up with that ugly white flower on the bottom of your cakes.

4) Place a slice of apple in your brown sugar to soften it.

5) User latex cleaning gloves to open hard to open jars.

6) Use air freshener to clean windows and mirrors in your home. They will shine, and smell good!

7) Use scotch tape to remove a splinter prior to trying it with tweezers. It feels better too!

8) Have a headache? cut a lime in 1/2 and rub the lime piece to your head. The headache will go away.

9) Alka Seltzer Tips:  Clean a toilet – drop 2 tablets in the bowl for 20 minutes. Brush and Flush.  Clean a vase – fill with water and drop 2 tablets.  Polish Jewelry – drop 2 tablets into a glass of water and immerse the jewelry for 2 minutes  Clean a thermos bottle – fill with water, drop in 4 tablets, and soaked for an hour.  Unclog a drain – clear drain by dropping 3 tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar, wait a few minutes then run hot water.

Happy tip using!!
