Know Thyself, Love Thyself, Define Thyself

“We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?”  Marianne Williamson

Define your beauty

I am beautiful, not in an arrogant, self-centered way, but in a way that brings joy to those around me. I wear a smile, and I remain optimistic, even in the midst of my trials. I am gorgeous, inside and out. I exude confidence, hope, and love. Neither my “double H” boobage, my freckles, nor these stretch marks on my thighs define my beauty. My beauty is defined by my ability to be sure of myself, my desire to operate in love, and my resolution to be authentic.

Today, declare that you are beautiful and define that beauty. What makes you special? Think about it, and start viewing yourself in a more positive light.

Celebrate your victories

How many moments of adversity have you conquered? Most likely, you’ve probably lost count.  With that being said, pat yourself on the back! Why? Because you’re a warrior, prepared and equipped to outlast your troubles. The next time you’re faced with a situation that seems impossible to resolve, reflect on your prior victories, on how God showed up right on time, the lessons you learned, and celebrate victory over yet another battle.

Embrace the love

I’m a firm believer in the power of sisterhood. Today acknowledge and celebrate the women who are always there for you. The ones who see you at your best even when you’re at your worst. Celebrate the ones who aren’t afraid to tell you like it is when you start acting a little crazy. There are so many people around you who just want to shower you with love. Embrace that because sometimes we think we’re alone when we’re just feeling lonely. Guess what, feelings can’t be trusted.

Enjoy the moment

If you live in the 21st century you see the following a lot: people texting and walking, reading and walking, checking emails when they should be listening… The list could probably go on forever. Somehow, we have been brainwashed into thinking, “thou shalt multitask always.” “Fit more into your day”, they say. If you can’t, wait until the last minute, and do even more at once!

Today, celebrate the moment and be present. Totally commit to the task at hand. Stand on the curb and wait for the light to change. Take it slow.  Think, meditate, or do nothing. Most importantly, enjoy the moment. You can’t enjoy the moment, if you’re rushing through your day.  You can’t appreciate life, if you don’t take time to just BE.
