Tis the Season to Rest not Stress

It’s the Holiday Season and some of us are yet planning our shopping-from last years “I’ll do this better next year” speech. To add to the hustle and bustle of not having and orderly shopping plan (maybe you do) there is work and school that has my head in a whirl wind. To top it off I’ve “earned” three speeding tickets in the last month and misplaced my pensil case with my flash drive full of poetry and Art 100 projects!

{ This may seem a little ventish but there’s apoint near the end, I promise. }

My head began to throb, my daughter began to call my name and I began to cry, but only silent tears. I let my daughter read her book to me and then as she dosed off, I began to stare at the ceiling and think. I began to think of how, if I had allowed Christ to minister to my heart and mind the way He desired and not the way I wanted then I would be resting. I began to think of how I should have cried out to Christ before I gained the extra 10pounds from emotionally eating and how I could have been down 10 instead of up.

Christ began to minister to me beyond my thoughts, here’s what He said; “I need you to stop trying to give yourself what only I can give you.” That was it, that was all my Father said to me and it was so sweet. But I had yet to understand the fullness of what He was speaking to me. What was He saying? “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righthousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.” Matthew 6:33;AMP

God is desiring to shower on us a love so pure and sweet but we keep opting for control of our lives, hense the stress and frustration, when all ,we have to do is allow Him the right to exert His authority and love over, through and in our lives. My encouragement to myself and then to you would be to rest in Christ, this happens by the reading of His Word, meditation and application. Let’s not allow the Holiday Season or any other circumstance to take us from rest to stress.

Remember: “Stop trying to give yourself what only I can give you.” ~ Jesus
